PPAI Vehicle Availability and Access Policy

When ordering or scheduling an inspection, the customer is responsible for providing accurate and complete information regarding the vehicle, seller, dealership, inspection location, contact information, and requested appointment time.

The customer is also responsible for ensuring that the vehicle is physically present at the correct location, accessible, unlocked when necessary, and available for inspection when the PPAI inspector arrives.

This requirement applies regardless of whether the vehicle is located at a dealership, private seller’s property, auction, residence, workplace, storage facility, or any other location.

The customer must obtain any permission required from the seller, dealership, auction, property owner, or other responsible party before the inspector arrives. The seller or dealership does not necessarily have to remain present during the inspection; however, the vehicle must be released and accessible to the inspector.

The inspection location must be reasonably safe, lawful, accessible, and suitable for the requested inspection. Whenever reasonably possible, the vehicle should be reasonably clean, dry, adequately illuminated, and parked on a firm and level surface. The vehicle should also have sufficient fuel and operating fluids if a road test or other operational testing is included and legally permitted.

If a road test is requested or included, the customer is responsible for confirming that the seller or dealership authorizes the road test and that the vehicle can be legally and safely driven. If a road test or other inspection procedure is not permitted or cannot be safely completed, that portion of the inspection may be omitted.

PPAI inspectors may have multiple appointments scheduled during the day. If the vehicle is not present, the location is incorrect, access is denied, the vehicle is locked or unavailable, the seller or dealership refuses or fails to release the vehicle, the vehicle has been sold or is pending sale, or the vehicle is otherwise not ready for inspection, the inspector may wait a reasonable period of time and then leave to continue to the next scheduled appointment.
PPAI is not responsible for delays, incomplete inspections, missed inspections, inspector travel time, or other consequences caused by an incorrect location, inaccurate information, seller or dealership conduct, lack of permission, restricted access, vehicle unavailability, vehicle sale or pending sale, unsafe conditions, or the vehicle not being ready when the inspector arrives.

If PPAI is unable to complete the inspection for any of these customer-, seller-, dealership-, or location-related reasons after the inspector has been dispatched or has arrived, the inspection fee remains due and no refund will be issued. PPAI may, at its discretion, document the attempted inspection and may offer a rescheduling option subject to availability and any applicable additional charges.

By submitting an order, paying for an inspection, checking the Inspection Service Agreement acceptance box, scheduling an appointment, or otherwise proceeding with PPAI’s services, the customer acknowledges and agrees to this Vehicle Availability and Access Policy.
